Labor Doula Services: Doula is a greek word that means "woman's servant." A Labor Doula is a woman trained to provide support to a woman and her partner throughout pregnancy, labor, delivery, and immediately postpartum. Studies have shown that having a Doula decreases the instances of: ~Cesarean Sections ~Assisted Deliveries ~Medical Interventions ~Postpartum Depression Labor Doula Services Include: ~Three Pre-Natal Meetings: During these meetings we will cover comfort measures, birth plans and more. ~Available throughout your pregnancy and initial postpartum period for questions. ~Continuous support throughout your labor, delivery, and initial postpartum period ~Two Postpartum Visits ~Back-Up Doula Coverage ~Access to an Extensive Lending Library of Books, Videos, & Magazines ~Pictures of the birth and/or of the family members after the birth.* *(A Professional Photographer is available for an additional fee or I can take the photos, call or email for more information.) ~A Belly Cast of your pregnant belly ~Breastfeeding Support Classes: Childbirth Education Classes: This four week class series meets for two hours per class. Some of what you will learn include: ~Writing a Birth Plan ~Comfort Measures ~Unexpected Outcomes ~The Postpartum Period Class participants receive a bound hand out of information. Classes are held monthly in York. Call or email for a current schedule. Private Classes are also available. Breastfeeding Basics Class Breastfeeding Basics meets twice for two hours per class. Some of what you will learn include: ~Benefits of Breastfeeding ~Common Problems and Solutions ~Returning to Work Class Participants receive The Breastfeeding Book by Dr. Sears and Martha Sears RN, IBCLC, and other handouts. Infant Massage Classes This four week class series meets for one hour and fifteen minutes per class. Babies two weeks to nine months are welcome as are expectant couples. Infant massage is an ancient art that promotes: ~Bonding ~Brain Development ~Muscle Coordination Some of what you will learn include: ~Ways to calm and soothe a Colicky, Gassy, or Constipated Baby ~Over twenty different Massage Strokes and how to adapt them as your child grows. Each Participant Receives the Infant Massage: A Handbook for Loving Parents written by Vimila McClure, a 4 oz. bottle of Organic Massage Oil, and a Certificate upon completetion of the class. Belly Casting Belly Casts are a wonderful way to remember your round, pregnant belly! Belly Casts can be done at your home or at my office. They take roughly 45 minutes to make and another two weeks before they are delivered back to you ready for you to decorate as you like, or I can decorate it for you.
